When makeup artist to the stars, Mario Dedivanovic, announced his collab with beauty industry powerhouse, Anastasia Beverly Hills, insanity ensued among fans and makeup lovers alike. (I mean, what else can be expected from a beauty launch?) Of course, I had to see what the fuss was about!
Ahh, I really wanted to love this palette!! So I was bummed when I didn’t. Unfortunately, it missed the mark completely.
Aesthetically, this palette is really pretty. I liked the chic simplicity of the black and gold exterior design. Inside are 12 stunning jewel-toned shadows, with finishes ranging from satin, matte, and metallic. These hues are what initially compelled me to try this palette – jewel tones are my absolute favorite.
The buttery texture of these shadows makes blending a dream, however, once applied, I was disappointed to find out that they were very lackluster (even on primed eyes). Since majority of the shades in this palette are shimmers and metallics, the color payoff was extremely disheartening; they just didn’t have the ‘pop’ I expect from gold & bronze shadows.
My final verdict?
Overall, I wasn’t as impressed with this palette as I thought I’d be, which is a huge contradiction from the overwhelming amount of rave reviews it’s gotten.
But one good thing did come from this glambust: I ended up giving it to my mom, and it looks STUNNING on her (I can’t lie, I was a bit jealous lol)
