This week I wanted to share my thoughts on the UD Smoky Palette. This palette is the latest one from their ‘Naked’ series. It’s made up of a range of 12 shadows, from metallic hues, neutrals, and sultry shades. And, like all Naked palettes, it comes with a dual ended brush.
Naturally, UD’s new addition received a ton of hype on social media. Personally, though, it didn’t quite live up to my expectations.
Don’t get me wrong – this is a gorgeous product: aesthetically, I loved the packaging and design of the palette. And the colors themselves are pretty. When I first swatched the eyeshadows in the store, “High” and “Armor” grabbed my attention immediately because of how glittery and pigmented they were. Buuut…on me, I found most of the smokier shades to be unflattering. Out of the 12, I only used about 4 colors. “High”, “Dirtysweet”, and “Radar” were my go-to’s, and I liked using “Whiskey” to fill in my brows.
Texture and performance wise, I have no complaints – the shadows are smooth, blendable, and have good color payoff.
I was so bummed to not have enjoyed this palette as much as I thought I would, especially since UD is one of my fave brands. But what can you do? I actually ended up giving it to my mom lol. She liked the Smoky, and I’ve been wanting the original Naked palette for THE longest time (I’m beyond late to the party, I know lol), so she gave me hers in exchange. A total win-win!
Anyhow, I’d love to know more opinions and thoughts about this palette! What did you think, Urban Decay fans?
Until next time…stay glamorous! xo
